COMPOSITE ROOFS

When installing a solar system, protecting your roof against leaks is of paramount importance. Traditional roof flashings rely on a rubber grommet or press-fit tube for waterproofness. Over time, these are prone to break down from heat, snow, and other factors. This wear exposes the roof penetration to rain, potentially causing a roof leak and thousands in home damage.

Pegasus has developed a single-formed metal cone flashing with no welds or press-fit pieces. This means there is no failure point where water can intrude and cause a roof leak.

The Pegasus L-foot encapsulates this cone, and effectively elevates the roof penetration 0.9” above the roof. As rain water flows down the roof, the L-foot diverts the flow around the roof penetration, resulting in impenetrable waterproof seal.

Tile Roofs

Often “tile hooks” are used as a low-cost solution to installing rooftop solar. Unfortunately, these cheap systems are not strong, and can lead to your solar system being mangled in high winds.

Pegasus has developed a patent pending tile replace solution that replaces the roof tile and creates a stronger connection with the structural rafter in your home’s roof. This significantly increases the strength and durability of your solar system. Additionally, the replacement flashings leave you with extra roofing tiles for future repairs anywhere on your roof.

At a 150MPH wind, which can occur throughout Southern California in extreme events, each mount could experience up to 560 pounds of uplift force. Below, traditional tile hooks and Pegasus Tile Replace are both tested to the same 560 lbs uplift.

The tile hook deforms 3+ inches – potentially enough to permanently damage your solar array.

Pegasus’ Tile Replace mount only deflects about ½ inch, and safely returns to its original position after loading.
